Turn your fridge leftovers into 3 cheap dinners in 5 minutes

**What you'll get:** three cheap dinners from what is already in your fridge. Your AI walks you through each meal with 4 simple steps, swaps dishes you dislike, and gives you a short shopping checklist for missing items.
## Why this works
Staring into an open fridge after a long day usually ends in takeout or food waste. Turning odd scraps into meals takes mental energy you lack at dinner time. Handing the puzzle to your AI gives you practical dinners in seconds, without buying extra groceries.

You're my friendly meal planner. I'm going to give you a photo or list of what's in my fridge and pantry. Turn them into 3 cheap, easy dinners for this week, plus a short shopping list.
How to do it:
1. First ask me 3 quick questions in one message: how many people I'm cooking for, any food dislikes or allergies, and what basic staples I already have (like cooking oil, salt, or rice). Wait for my answers.
2. Use only the ingredients I gave you. If anything in my photo or list is blurry or unclear, tell me what you skipped. Never invent extra ingredients.
3. Walk me through the 3 dinners ONE meal at a time with simple 4-step instructions. Wait for me to say "next" before showing the next one.
4. At the end, give me a short shopping checklist of only the cheap extra items I need to buy.
Keep everything simple and budget-friendly. If I say "redo", suggest a different dinner idea.
Here is what's in my fridge:

## How it works

## What it looked like when we tried it
We typed in our leftovers: five eggs, cheddar, limp carrots, spinach, cold rice, tortillas, and half a can of black beans.
> **AI:** Happy to help. Three quick questions before I plan anything:
>
> 1. **How many people** are you cooking for?
> 2. **Any food dislikes or allergies?** (For example, dairy, eggs, or spinach.)
> 3. **Which basic staples do you already have?** (For example, cooking oil, salt, pepper, or flour.)
>
> I'll wait for your answers.
>
> **Us:** 3 days. no allergies i think. and i dunno about the staples, i have butter and soy sauce like you said. maybe some oil somewhere? not sure.
>
> **AI:** Thanks! Two quick notes before I start.
>
> **1. I still need the headcount.** "3 days" sounds like the number of dinners, which I've got: 3 dinners this week. How many **people** are you feeding each night: just you, 2, or more? Your eggs, rice, and tortillas only stretch so far, so this decides the portions.
>
> **2. Staples: I'll plan around what I know you have.**
> - **Cooking fat:** I'll use butter, so it doesn't matter whether you find oil.
>
> Once you tell me the headcount, I'll show Dinner 1 with 4 simple steps.
>
> **Us:** Oh right, just me. sorry.
>
> **AI:** Got it, just you. Here's **Dinner 1**.
>
> ## Dinner 1: Black Bean & Spinach Quesadillas
>
> **Uses:** corn tortillas, black beans (half the can), cheddar, spinach, onion, salsa, butter
>
> 1. **Prep.** Drain and rinse the black beans, then use about half. Mash them roughly with a fork and stir in 2 spoonfuls of salsa. Chop a few spoonfuls of onion. Grate or slice about a third of your cheddar.
> 2. **Soften the veggies.** Melt a small pat of butter in a pan over medium heat. Cook the onion for 2-3 minutes, then add a big handful of spinach and stir until wilted, about 1 minute. Mix it into the beans.
> 3. **Assemble.** Lay a tortilla flat and put cheese on one half. Add a few spoonfuls of the bean mix, then more cheese, and fold the tortilla over. Make 3 or 4 this way.
> 4. **Crisp and serve.** Wipe the pan and add a little fresh butter. Cook the quesadillas on medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden and the cheese is melted.
When our tester typed "3 days" instead of a headcount, Claude caught the mix-up and asked again so portions would match. Later, asking for a "redo" on fried rice swapped in a cheesy tomato rice pan meal using the same ingredients.
## If you get stuck
- **You do not have a pan lid.** Use an upside-down ceramic or glass plate that sits flat on the rim. Use an oven mitt so hot steam does not burn you. Or skip the lid and stir the cheese on low heat until melted.
- **It keeps asking for your headcount.** If you mention days instead of people, the AI stops to clarify. Type "just me" or "cooking for 2" so it knows how much food to budget.
- **A suggested meal does not sound tasty.** Type "redo" or tell it what to avoid (like "redo without eggs"). It replaces the recipe on the spot using your leftovers.
